JUDGING CRITERIA
The independent judging panel is made up of individuals from a wide cross section of backgrounds including business and academia. The WBA Board of Management and staff are NOT involved in the judging process. WBA board members do NOT know the results until they are announced at the awards night. The independency of the judging process means there is no conflict with businesses of board members nominating for these awards.
All business award entries will be judged (and points allocated) on:
- Standard Criteria
- Award Category Specific Criteria (for each nominated category)
- Supplementary materials, attachments and appendices (if referenced within the relevant criteria)
GUIDELINES OF ENTRY
- Businesses can enter a maximum of THREE award categories, PLUS you can nominate ONE employee for Employee of the Year, ONE trainee/apprentice for Trainee/Apprentice of the Year, and/or ONE person in a leadership position for the City of Wanneroo Business Leader of the Year.
- You have the option to upload ONE supporting document (max file size 10MB) alongside EACH category entry (eg: image, diagram, infographic, graph, etc.), which should be attached as an appendix.
- If you choose to do upload supporting documentation, the information MUST be referenced in your answers AND the file appropriately named.
USEFUL TIPS
We recommend you enter as many categories as possible to increase your chances of winning.
You will be asked to upload your business logo (max file size 10MB) as well as team, product or promotional photograph/s (max file size 10MB) upon submission, so have these ready to go!
You cannot save or print the application once you start it online, therefore we recommend creating your entry in a Word document using our ready to go template, which you can download from the nominate page of this website. This form will allow you to edit, save and share the application with colleagues. Once you are ready to submit, you can copy and paste your answers into the online nomination form.
VERY IMPORTANT. Ensure you click the FINISH button on the last page of your nomination. If you do not do this, your nomination will not be submitted.
The online nomination form does NOT take bullet points or formatted text (e.g., bold, underlined, italics, etc.)
Keep it clear and concise. Use short sentences and make it easy to read.
You won’t get a second chance to make a first impression. Every business has a personality, make sure yours in reflected in your entry.
Remember, judges might not be familiar with your business. Assume judges have never heard of your business and are not involved in your industry. Avoid industry jargon!
Watch the recording of our Business Awards Online Information Session to get more tips on entering.
If your supporting evidence is larger than 10mb (for example a video), you may reference a link to YouTube. Please bear in mind that judges have limited time to judge all the entries and taking them away from your answers will need to be minimised.
